Gabriel Blasberg
Principal clarinet - Buenos Aires City Symphony Band

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he graduated at the National Music Conservatory with gold medal, under the guidance of Mtro. Mariano Frogioni. He was a scholarship holder of Fundación Antorchas and Camping Musical Bariloche, taking musical interpretation courses with Ensemble Modern (Germany), Nicolás Chumachenco (Poland), Alberto Lysy, among others.
From a young age he joined several orchestras, such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Católica Argentina, Orquesta Latinoamericana de Juventudes Musicales (Uruguay 1985 and Colombia 1990), Sinfónica de Avellaneda, Sinfónica de Radio Nacional and Sinfónica Nacional de Argentina. He was invited to play in Cidesin Symphonic Band, from Costa Rica, as the principal clarinet. In 1989 he joined the Banda Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, where he’s been the principal clarinet since 2016.
He was awarded in competitions such as Concurso Coca-Cola en las Artes, Concurso Argentino de Música Fundación Banco Mayo, and Concurso Internacional de Música de Buenos Aires. 

He performed on the most important venues in Argentina, and also on live radio and television shows as a soloist and in chamber music groups. In the last years he has performed as a soloist with the Orquesta de Cámara del Congreso de la Nación, Orquesta Sinfónica de Pilar, Orquesta Sinfónica de San Isidro, Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Mar del Plata, Banda Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Banda Sinfónica Vientos del Sur.

He also played popular music, as a member of the group Vai Passar, recording an album in 2016.

He’s been teaching clarinet and musical interpretation for decades, and in the last years he also taught group lessons on the Internet, and as a guest teacher at clarinet festivals. 

Nowadays, he is the Country Chair for Argentina in the International Clarinet Association (ICA) and is a member of the Clariperu Latin America team.
He is a Gonzalez Reeds artist.

Gabriel currently plays on the RZ Capriccio Clarinet.
