Lucas Andrade

Lucas Andrade began his studies at the Sociedade Filarmônica Amantes da Lira in Santo Antônio de Jesus, in the interior of Bahia, where he later worked as a clarinetist, saxophonist, and band instructor until he entered university. He earned his bachelor's degree in clarinet from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) under the guidance of Professor Dr. Pedro Robatto and obtained a Master's degree in Musical Performance from the same institution. He studied functional harmony applied to popular music with professors Ian Guest (Hungary/Brazil) and Victor Santos (Brazil), both at the International Summer Course of the Brasília School of Music. He served as an improvisation teacher and was one of the organizers of the 1st and 2nd Paraíba Clarinetists Meetings (2015/2017). In 2017, he participated in the 19th Eleazar de Carvalho Festival and the 1st Santana do Matos Music Festival, both as a clarinet teacher. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a substitute professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, where he taught clarinet and ensemble practice. In 2019, he participated in organizing the 1st Potiguar Clarinetists Meeting and the 1st Pernambucano Clarinetists Meeting. From 2022 to 2023, he worked as a substitute clarinet/saxophone professor at the Federal Institute of Paraíba. Also in 2023, he was among the main guest artists at ClarinetFest (Denver, CO, USA) and the 8th International Clarinet Festival of Paraguay (Asunción, Paraguay). Since 2014, he has been a permanent member of the Paraíba Symphony Orchestra (OSPB), where he serves as the principal solo clarinetist. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Music at the Federal University of Bahia and is part of the quartet of the Bahian singer Rosa Passos.
